Dazzling family garden in Ealing (W5)

The brief in this Ealing family garden was to screen the unattractive fencing and Leylandii trunks at the back, give colourful herbaceous planting and include space for growing vegetables.

Our design had arches, trellis and a seating arbour which provided screening, support for climbers and a focal point. We put a mirror on the rear boundary lined up with the archway to add visual depth, and three raised beds for the children to grow vegetables. All the woodwork was painted a sophisticated dark green. The small existing flower bed running across the centre was extended and we added new beds behind on a higher level.
